Grandpa Green by Lane Smith

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous in every possible way. Clever illustrations, fabulous storytelling using limited words. luscious images and limited colour palette. Oh man if you're an aspiring author and or illustrator of picture books there are so many levels of storytelling in this book which you can learn from. Did I say gorgeous!

The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan

Shaun Tan is one of my favourite illustrators. His images are full of beauty, texture and emotion. His books are the quintessential art book to children's book. If you're a picture book crushing adult, then Shaun Tan's books are glorioooous.
